Financing an imported car purchase from Korea

Traditional local financing is usually built for cars already registered with a local dealer, which makes it awkward to combine with direct import. Here's how most of our customers handle payment.

Why direct bank financing is hard

Banks typically finance a car already physically present in the local market with plates and a registration number, while your imported car is still in Korea or in transit at the time of purchase. That usually means the initial payment is a direct bank transfer.

Common alternatives

  • Full payment by bank transfer, sometimes with a small commission discount
  • A personal loan from your local bank (not tied to the car) to cover part of the price
  • Post-registration financing — some banks accept financing the car once local plates are issued
