Max vehicle age
10 years — Vehicles more than 10 years old from the manufacture year may not be imported. Longer limits (up to 15 years) apply to buses and some passenger-transport categories.
Customs & duty
Import duty is 0% on many vehicles, but 20% VAT applies on the assessed value, plus an excise tax based on engine size and fuel type. Confirm the figures with your broker.
Emission standard
Used vehicles must meet Euro 4 or higher (Euro 5 or higher for brand-new cars). Check the Korean vehicle’s emissions rating before buying.
VIN re-carving
VIN re-carving is prohibited.
